Friday night, June 5, saw more than 400 members of the hospitality industry in Northern Ireland come together at The Europa Hotel in Belfast to celebrate at the fifth annual LCN Awards. Celebrating the best of the Hospitality Industry in Northern Ireland.

Secrets picked up two of the evening’s main accolades including nightclub of the year and best use of social media for its engaging content fending off stiff competition from across Northern Ireland, while Mary’s Bar took home the hotly anticipated bar of the year gong.

Secrets (Nightclub of the Year), judges said:

“This is an exceptional venue and it is clear the owners have gone to considerable effort to make this one of Northern Ireland most impressive venues. Each area is stylishly decorated, well thought-out and a pleasure to be in.”
 Secrets (Best Use of Social Media), judges said:
 “The winner of this award has skilfully used social media in an engaging and innovative way to create and maintain an interactive relationship with their target market. The judges were impressed with how clearly they have demonstrated how this has impacted very favourably on the success and profitability of the business.”

Secrets nightclub opened at the end of the summer last year following a £1.5 million refurbishment of Dorman’s and The Opera now run by the third generation of the family who established Dorman’s back in 1907.

Independent mystery shopping company Spotcheck visited the shortlisted venues across Northern Ireland applauding both Secrets and Marys for their excellence in bar, nightclub and lounge concept development, operations, promotion, innovation and success.

Magherafelt has been recognised for its hospitality at the recent LCN Awards. Mary’s Bar was voted Best Bar in Northern Ireland. Secrets Nightclub picked up Best Social Media and Best Nightclub. Husband and wife team Henry and Teresa McGlone, proprietors of both Secrets and Marys said, “The team at both the venues work together diligently to ensure they are top of their game and we strive to offer a welcoming atmosphere in two venues for all age groups.”
